Jubilee Park is Spruce Grove’s premier park destination – a major community gathering place featuring a picnic area and picnic shelter, play structure, disc golf course, a plaza and multi-purpose trails. As part of the Jubilee Park master plan, JEN COL Construction was hired as the construction manager to create a spray park along with two buildings offering amenities to park users.
The spray park includes a 750m2 concrete splash deck with over 80 nozzle features and splash toys for all ages as well as a large 130m2 plaza with tables and assorted seating to enhance the spray park experience for families. Two buildings were also constructed – the first, a pavilion with washrooms and a concession plus an information kiosk for city programs; and a second building with additional washrooms and change rooms for visitors. The second building also includes a maintenance garage to store water wagons and a filling station to flood the local outdoor rinks during the winter.
Key design features include exposed glulam structure, mirrored cladding and back-lit panels that mimic and reflect their surroundings while minimizing impact on nearby residents.
