Main Street Financial Office

Stony Plain Kitchen Renovations

JEN COL completed a full interior office renovation for the Main Street Financial team in Stony Plain, Alberta. For this renovation project, we started by stripping down the existing 238m² space to just studs and a concrete skeleton. From there, our focus shifted to reworking the office layout for optimal flow and function. Our project crew executed new mechanical and electrical upgrades. Additionally, new vinyl flooring and carpeting was installed, as well as modern lighting fixtures throughout the entire office. New windows were strategically installed to enhance natural lighting and to modernize the space’s ambiance. Furthermore, accessibility and privacy were improved by adding a new entrance door and boot room to the front of the building, maximizing the space’s utility.

Main Street Financial’s new office space includes a modern kitchen/staff lunchroom area with dark cabinets and stunning black quartz countertops. There are two main boardrooms where the team can meet with clients or have internal meetings. Each boardroom has a glass privacy screen design, one with a bull and one with a bear representing the “bull market” and “bear market”. The Main Street team now has a beautiful, modern office space they can proudly show off to clientele and love to work in every day. Hillcrest Seniors Lodge

The Hillcrest Lodge, situated on a spacious 1.88-acre plot, has been extensively renovated and expanded to meet contemporary standards for senior living. Our objective, in collaboration with JMAA Architects Ltd., was to merge practicality, comfort, and modern design elements to improve the quality of life for Hillcrest’s cherished residents.

The initial phase involved the meticulous introduction of 45 modernized rooms, each bearing in mind the distinct requirements and comfort of senior residents. As the project progressed, we seamlessly incorporated an additional 25 rooms, enhancing the lodge’s overall capacity while maintaining design continuity and spatial harmony.

Central to the renovation was the development of communal spaces, including a spacious dining area, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and multipurpose activity rooms. These additions not only elevate the aesthetic quotient but also foster community interaction, enhancing the daily life quality of each resident. Furthermore, accessibility features have been integrated throughout, ensuring a safe and convenient environment for all occupants.

Hillcrest Lodge epitomizes our commitment to superior project execution and our deep understanding of senior living requirements. This venture has substantially enhanced the resident experience, fostering a stronger sense of community and belonging in Barrhead’s heart.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations

We installed seventeen electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in five different locations around Spruce Grove. The EV charging stations were installed in response to the increasing demand for electric and hybrid vehicles in the city. The City of Spruce Grove proactively took the initiative to meet the needs of their community by providing accessible charging infrastructure as the demand for electric and hybrid vehicles continues to increase.

Our team worked diligently to bring these state-of-the-art charging stations to life, ensuring that both residents and visitors can conveniently power their EVs with ease. The stations feature Level 2 charging technology, designed to deliver reliable power and help you get back on the road quickly. Level 2 chargers are the most commonly available public EV chargers providing an average charge of 40 kilometres of range per hour.

You can find the EV charging stations strategically positioned at three public key destinations in Spruce Grove: two chargers at City Hall, four chargers at the Agrena, and six chargers Fuhr Sports Park. These locations were chosen to provide maximum convenience for EV owners and to support the city’s commitment to sustainable transportation. We also installed EV stations inside the Protective Services building (one charger) and Public Works building (four chargers) for use for City fleet vehicles.

Wilhauk Beef Jerky Kiosk

Located in the busy section of West Edmonton Mall known as The Ice Palace, the Wilhauk Beef Jerky Kiosk is a prime example of masterful craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Despite its small size of only 14m², every aspect of the kiosk has been meticulously planned and executed to perfection, resulting in a highly functional and visually appealing space.

We collaborated with local interior designer Suzanne Allard to create a seamless combination of product placement, layout, and function, all while maintaining a modern and sleek aesthetic. Despite a tight deadline of just under six weeks, JEN COL’s unwavering commitment to meeting our client’s goals and innovative solutions made it possible to complete the project in time for Father’s Day.

To minimize costs and time, we coordinated the use of owner-supplied materials and equipment, designed and built new millwork, and coordinated the installation of ceramic tile finishes, butcher block countertops, and display units. Our dedication to delivering high-quality results on schedule is what sets us apart.

Sparrow Lane Wedding & Events

Sparrow Lane Wedding & Events

The project focused on designing and constructing a modern yet functional wedding venue for Sparrow Lane Wedding & Events. JEN COL collaborated closely with the owner and designer to create a unique and stunning design that met their vision. The lodge boasts ample natural light through its large windows, and the tall, vaulted ceiling adds depth and interest to the building. In addition, a neutral colour palette was used to allow renters of the space to customize the area for their event easily.

Sparrow Lane is located in a private country setting in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The space comprises marble countertops, large windows, specialty chandeliers and light fixtures, luxury vinyl flooring, Versailles flooring, and a beautiful exterior patio, giving clients the modern and airy wedding venue of their dreams.

This stunning venue was meticulously built, focusing on functionality, luxury and style. From the initial design concept to the final touches, our design-build approach allowed us to seamlessly integrate every part of the project, resulting in a cohesive and stunning finished product.

In addition to aesthetics, Sparrow Lane was designed for functionality. The open-concept layout was thoughtfully planned to accommodate weddings and events of various sizes and styles. With careful consideration of the windows’ placement and lighting, we built a warm, inviting atmosphere that guests will love. The result is a stunning event space that is a testament to our sharp focus on working closely with owners and designers.

Würth Canada

Light Industrial General Contractor.

Würth Canada is a leading supplier of industrial, construction, manufacturing and automotive supplies and had outgrown its current warehouse in Acheson, Alberta. Würth trusted JEN COL Construction to lead this design-build project. The project entailed doubling the warehouse’s original size and incorporating a retail showroom for visiting clients in a safe and organized environment. There were several unique connection details to this project to make this happen, as the existing building was over a decade old. The structural cross-bracing and existing insulated metal panes had to be removed along with the mechanical and electrical tie-ins.

The existing warehouse was occupied and fully operational during construction, so safety and schedule played a huge factor in completing this project. Two unique elements to this new warehouse space are a showroom on the main floor to showcase the thousands of products Würth has to offer as well as a lunchroom/training room directly above the showroom where they can now host product demonstrations and lunch-and-learns with their clients. This project also expanded the parking area and included provisions for a future addition.

École francophone d’Airdrie

École Francophone Airdrie School exterior

In response to Airdrie’s explosive growth, JEN COL Construction was hired to build a new 400-student kindergarten to Grade 12 Francophone school in the city’s King’s Heights community. At the time, student instruction was held in portable classrooms and they were being bussed to another school to use their gymnasium facilities, so the need for a new school was immense.
The core building includes a large gymnasium, two Career and Technology Studies (CTS) labs, a science lab and a performance stage which serves a dual purpose as a place for after-hours performances as well as the music classroom for day-to-day operations. One of the CTS classrooms is designed for the school’s Mechanics Program where students can work on vehicles inside the building. A large garage door and increased ventilation were also incorporated. The learning commons for the school features a two-storey design with full height glazing to allow maximum natural light into the space. This project also included the installation of two new modular units and the relocation of four other units.
École francophone d’Airdrie was built using the Design-Build delivery method and successfully achieved LEED® Silver Certification. Canada Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design New Construction (LEED-NC) Silver-rating-certified buildings reduce waste, conserve energy, decrease water consumption and drive innovation through better air ventilation, more natural daylight and several other innovative techniques.

Lynnwood Sunrooms Retrofit

CapitalCare Lynnwood, located in Edmonton’s west end, has 276 long-term care beds care and provides an environment that supports choice, autonomy and, where possible, independence.

JEN COL Construction completed the revamp of six sunrooms at the Lynnwood long-term care facility. The sunrooms, located on three floors and on two sides of the building, required a complete restructuring of the exterior walls with new structural steel and large aluminum windows allowing for all the natural light required for a sunroom. The interior finishes were brought up to date and new mechanical systems were installed to ensure best comfort for the residents.

Robert W. Zahara Public School

Robert W Zahara Public School interior

The original Robert W. Zahara Public School was built in 1978 and was at capacity when the government and school district agreed to build a larger replacement school in the same location.
The new school is designed to accommodate 550 students and features spacious classrooms, a music room that opens up to create a performance stage and a learning commons that is naturally lit by floor-to-ceiling windows. Other special features include an oversize gymnasium, dedicated speech therapy and occupational therapy rooms, a server and a well-equipped playground. The project also included the addition of 10 modular classrooms. The school further engaged JEN COL Construction on work with their greenhouse, playground equipment and other requirements.
Robert W. Zahara Public School successfully achieved LEED® Silver Certification. The design of the school involved many energy-saving features including daylight sensors, motion sensors and LED lighting in some spaces.
