Foothills Composite High School is located in Okotoks, Alberta and has a student capacity of about 1,200 students. Originally built in 1984, the decades old school needed a full modernization. Of particular importance was upgrading of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as roofing, flooring, windows and other major building components. Interior spaces were also extensively renovated and repurposed all while the school remained occupied and operational.
The two-year modernization project began in 2016 and included a new theatre, band room and automotive department, as well as technology upgrades and structural renovations. Complete modernizations to the school’s large and small gymnasiums were also added to the project. This project comprised multiple phases (seven in total) and touched every corner of the school; additional work was added, including parking lot upgrades and modular additions.
