The Beaverlodge Replacement School was delivered as a Design Build for the Grande Prairie Catholic School Division. The school has a contract value of $14,785,000 that included the demolition of the existing school. The new school is a 2,960 m2 core School that includes an oversized gymnasium. Currently designed with 10 large classrooms, it has the ability to expand by 10 more portables to accommodate future growth. The core school includes classrooms designed for Home Economics and Wood-Working as well as a large Library for the book-lovers.
The Beaverlodge School is targeting LEED Silver designation. Included for in the design of the school is many energy saving techniques that have allowed for 13 Energy Savings Points out of a possible 19 for New Construction. Some of these techniques include daylight sensors to turn off lights when optimal light can be provided by the sun, motion sensors on lights to ensure light is not being provided to an empty space and LED lighting in some spaces. All of the products used within the school are compliant with their applicable Green Construction rating system; all of the flooring has a floorscore rating in alignment with LEED principals, and all paint used in the school is low VOC.
Jen-Col delivered the project to the school in time to have classes in the new school prior to the end of the 2016 school semester.
